Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 
To oversee and manage all rigging operations for lifting, transporting, and installing heavy equipment or materials. Responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of rigging operations, coordinating teams, and complying with industry standards.  To establish and maintain high standards of quality of large mobile crane operations, rigging, inspections and registration of lifting equipment. The role holder will also be responsible to train national rigging and lifting supervisors as per the set development plan.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Riggers Trade Certificate Level 6 NVQ Controlling Lifting Operations, Planning Lifts or equivalent.
•    Relevant qualifications to assess and accredit local nationals.
•    High risk work licenses & relevant cranes tickets, with rigging certificate is a must
•    Registered rigger with approved body.

EXPERIENCE:
•    8 years rigging experience with a minimum of 2 years in a Superintendent role.
•    Operating knowledge on the following cranes is favorable.
•    Terex , Sany, Zoomlion, Tadano mobile Cranes.
•    Lattice Boom crawler cranes including erecting & dismantling.
•    Extensive crane experience in Heavy Civil/Construction or mining industry with sound knowledge of international standards relevant to lifting equipment and operations.
•    Ability and willingness to train and up-skill the local national workforce to recognized standards of competence.
•    Ability to conduct, write & review lift studies for heavy and critical lifts .
•    Strong interpersonal skills, and fluent in English (both verbal & written).
•    A strong commitment and understanding of health, safety and environmental policies.
•    This position requires a high degree of assertiveness, proactively and flexibility.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Physical mobile crane operations, rigging and scaffold erection and inspection

•    Management of OPEX and CAPEX Budgets related to Lifting Operations
•    Broad range of leadership and technical skills relevant to lifting and rigging operations
•   High level of Computational ability to read, understand and interpret load charts for lifting machinery
•    Proactive work ethic with strong analytical skills.
•    Good oral and written communication skills and ability to compile written reports
•    Strong technical writing, group presentation and interpersonal skills.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.    Training, Development and Coaching
•    A critical requirement for the role also includes the ability to train and up skill the National workforce, and have the qualifications required to access and accredit the locals to accredited standards.
•    Set up Operator training Modules, for mobile cranes and pendant type overhead cranes.
•    Set up Rigger training Modules and conduct courses and assessment.
•    Set up Scaffold erection training Modules and conduct courses.
•    Conduct training for Mobile cranes hydraulic, lattice boom and overhead cranes.

2.    Legislative requirements
•    Ensure all operator licences are valid and correct for the equipment being operated.
•    Awareness/management of declaration of conflict of interest of direct reports.
•    Awareness/management of SOX control accountabilities.
•    Awareness/management of Delegation of Authority.
•    Awareness/management of reporting (weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual) requirements.
•    Role outputs as per individual RARs and/or GPMS recorded critical tasks

3.    Safety and Procedural Enforcement
•    Ensure that all safety procedures are followed, and coach subordinates about safety.
•    Manage the setting up and reviewing of documented company rigging safety procedures.

4.    Supervision of work practices and people management
•    Effective delegation of tasks.
•    Support engineering department and GGM contractors with statutory lifting equipment inspections.

5.    Equipment Management and Maintenance
•    Set up and Manage Lifting equipment register and Crane booking system.
•    Oversee all heavy lifts and confirm lifting radius and weights – ensuring correctly sized equipment is used.
•    Ensure that mobile equipment is serviced as per the planned maintenance schedule.
•    Ensure housekeeping of working areas is maintained.

6.    Inspections & Audits
•    Planned maintenance inspections of overhead cranes.
•    Manage and over inspect erection scaffolding.
•    Monthly inspections of mobile cranes.
•    Inspect and approve scaffold towers.
•    Register and inspect rigging equipment regularly and record all inspections. Sign off on inspections.
•    Assess Crane operators and Riggers competency.
