Kahama Co-operative Union Limited (KACU Ltd) was established in Tanzania in 1994 under the Co-operative Societies Act No. 15 of 1991. Operating in the Shinyanga Region, the Union aims to enhance the economic standards of farmers and promote community development.

Vision:
To become a strong Co-operative Union that offers excellent supervision and management skills to its Primary Co-operative Societies and communities while improving farmers’ economic standards.

Mission:
To improve productivity among members by providing progressive training for effective management of KACU Ltd and its affiliated member societies.

KACU Ltd invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies:

1. Chief Accountant (1 Vacancy)

Nature and Scope:
The Chief Accountant will report to the General Manager, overseeing the maintenance of books of accounts, financial reporting, and daily financial transactions. The role includes supervising budgeting processes, payments to suppliers, and ensuring the safeguarding of financial resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the accounts department and monitor daily financial information.
• Coordinate budgeting exercises and produce budget reports.
• Advise management and the Board on all financial matters.
• Ensure timely preparation of statutory returns and payments.
• Oversee cost control processes within the enterprise.
• Advise on tax matters and ensure statutory compliance.
• Design and implement internal financial controls.
• Monitor cash requirements and ensure proper management.
• Prepare statutory reports and provide timely updates to management.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance or related field.
• International accountancy qualification (ACCA, CPA(T), CFA).
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
• Computer proficiency required.

2. Internal Auditor (1 Vacancy)

Nature and Scope:
The Internal Auditor will report to the Board of Directors and evaluate the Union’s internal controls, including its corporate governance and accounting processes. The role ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and accurate financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and report on controls over financial and non-financial resources.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and directives from the Registrar of Co-operatives.
• Evaluate the accuracy of income accounts and expenditures.
• Conduct audits of UNION’s assets and ensure protection of resources.
• Provide advice on aligning operations with the mission, vision, and values of the Union.
• Assist in implementing recommendations from external auditors.
• Advise on operational and technological systems in use.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy/Finance or related field.
• International accountancy qualification (CPA or ACCA).
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Possession of CIA certification is an advantage.
