HEAD OF SECTION – IRRIGATION – FM2072

Ikwiriri Area – Tanzania: Our client is looking for a Head of Section – Irrigation to join the team.

The Head of Section is a crucial role that requires both technical expertise in irrigation and strong leadership to address daily operational challenges. The successful candidate will be skilled at coordinating activities, managing resources, and resolving issues to maintain efficient irrigation system operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in irrigation system management within large-scale agricultural projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Knowledge of irrigation techniques and water management best practices.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and other departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Irrigation Management:

• Oversee 50% of the irrigation system, ensuring the proper application of water across designated blocks within the farm.
• Define and implement the general irrigation program for the assigned blocks, adjusting plans as necessary to meet operational needs.
• Review and approve the daily irrigation schedules for each block, ensuring optimal water distribution.

Team Coordination & Discipline:

• Maintain discipline within the irrigation team, promoting a productive and safety-conscious work environment.
• Coordinate with block directors to monitor team performance, address issues, and provide guidance as needed.

Resource & Inventory Management:

• Coordinate with the warehouseman to ensure timely delivery of necessary tools and materials requested by block directors.
• Review block directors’ reports and generate comprehensive reports for department management on system performance and needs.

Compliance & Maintenance:

• Ensure adherence to maintenance programs and conduct regular inspections to uphold system efficiency and reliability.
• Promote and enforce safety standards, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) within the team.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and maintain accurate records as required by the organization.

Payroll & Reporting:

• Review and authorize payroll reports prepared by block directors, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor block directors’ reports, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports for upper management on irrigation activities and team performance.
