Position Overview

We seek an experienced Site Quantity Surveyor, preferably within remote site high end hospitality construction projects, to join our team in the Serengeti National Park to manage the construction site of a luxury lodge aimed to attract international guests.

The Site Quantity Surveyor’s role is crucial to ensuring the measurement and valuation of construction works is carried out as per standard practice and industry norms and predefined constraints, whilst adopting a pro-active approach to delegated responsibilities. Must have outstanding communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team with the common goal of project financial success at the forefront

Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for all commercial matters pertaining to the contract and to the works.
2. Take ownership to maximize of margins and benefit to the organization.
3. Monitor and control labor cost and material usage at site.
4. Approve material purchases to be within allowable costs.
5. Provision of weekly forecasts in relation to projected costs and margins vs budgets.
6. Provision of weekly reports encompassing EVM (Earned Value Management)
7. Daily measurement of works executed by the main contractor and sub-contractors at site.
8. Receive sub-contractor monthly Interim Payment Applications and process to approval.
9. Conduct monthly valuations for executed works and submit Interim Payment Applications.
10. Compile sub-contractor Interim Payment Certificates and raise payment documentation.
11. Provide monthly reports encompassing EVM (Earned Value Management)

Position Requirements;

i. Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics, with focus on a construction environment.
ii. 5+ years of experience in construction as a Site Qs, with a focus on cost control and profit maximization.
iii. Proven track record of successfully completing projects within budget and at the highest level of quality.
iv. Strong understanding of Standard Practice for Quantity Surveyors.
v. Excellent planning, communication and interpersonal skills.
vi. Ability to meet deadlines.
vii. Will be resilient, self-motivated and energetic toward responsibilities.
viii. Will take ownership of all areas of responsibility and be accountable.
ix. Will have experience with MS Office Suite.
x. Will have experience working with a team with vast cultural differences.
xi. Will be respectful of all team members at all times.
